 but the very tacky logo in front puts it immediately out of contention...

You could fix the "tacky logo on the front" with a sharpie or a small piece of black tape.

I also thought the 'S' sign was really tacky but when I put a half case on it, that covered it all. So that could also be a solution if you don't want to tamper with the construction.
