I want to go buy an x100 today but have a question. The camera shop only has a shipment from January this year and the cameras have firmware 1.11

Is this late enough to hopefully avoid (SAB) issues?

Im flying tomorrow, so any help today would be wonderful.

not sure, but most x-100s don't stay much on the shelf, just get it and use it to the max on your vacation, that should be the ultimate taste, i am going to vegas next week and can't wait to use mine

Better look at serial numbers. 21M... should be OK. 14M.. or earlier could be wrong. 14 is from 4th quarter of 2011. Around November 2011 SAB is fixed, definitely. So, late 14th are OK too.

What is a "late 14th"? Does anybody know from which 5-digit s/n number onward will be ok?

I guess it means a 14... with a production date of Dec 2011 onwards, as displayed in the cameras EXIF data.

Sorry for the slow reply... I've been on the road.

Well instead of sweating it i took the plunge and just did it.
I can't seem to find the manufacture date in any EXIF data i have seen.
The Camera is 14A03XXX.... Sense i don't know the system, i don't know exactly if this is early or late but I suspect early.

Anyways... I loaded 1.21 into it right away and so far other than a few annoying quirks(ISO menu on FN button without auto in viewfinder, battery life...etc) I'm enjoying the camera.

Time will tell if i find it an equal to my favorite camera, my Hexar AF. A lovely camera not without quirks it's self.

Thanks to all for this site.. It's been a heap of help and i really appreciate the maturity of the place...

Bill....

Your camera was manufacture in the 4th quarter of last year. 1 being 2011, 4 being the quarter. Load a picture at the following page:

http://regex.info/exif.cgi

Under "Maker Notes" you will find the following:

Internal Serial Number FPX 20870933 592D36323232 2011:10:27 F6F12b110008

The bold portion (made bold by me) is the manufacture date.

For some reason (?) I don't see Maker Notes. Ideas?

Got it thanks! At first I was using image from photo hosting site and it was only coming back with truncated exif listing.
In any case 2011.11.04. I also hope that's good enough!
