I have been looking at peoples photos taken in classic chrome and they have a very washed out desaturated feel but when i use classic chrome the photos look the same as my iPhone / standard camera. ive tried changing the settings within CC but no joy.

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

You might need to help us with a picture pair example.

Are you shooting RAW and then bring them into Lightroom or similar RAW converter? If so, you will need to apply the film simulation in Lightroom. The simulations are only applied to jpegs in camera.

I personally use -2 color, -1 highlights, +2 shadows on top of Classic Chrome. It produces unsaturated colors and very punchy shadows on jpegs.

Experiment with the jpg film simulation settings in the camera; if you want a more desaturated look, try reducing the shadows and the color. Try different combinations until you find one you like!
