My 35mm lens has apparently caught a couple of sand grains in its focusing ring, and makes a strange grinding sound when turning the ring (AF is OK).

Since the lens is already out of warranty, I am thinking about cleaning it myself. When looking for DIY videos, I found a number of similar videos for other Fuji lenses.

Please note that any unauthorized work on your Fuji lens will void your warranty - so you're doing this at your own risk. The forum and its staff aren't liable for any damages that these instructions and their execution can cause.

Maybe we can compile a small link collection for these videos... I recall that there were several more videos in the initial phase of Fuji X product introduction as aperture ring looseness was an issue that plagued many of the earlier Fuji X lenses...

Do you know links to other teardown videos for Fuji lenses, if so, please bring them on.

Thank you for the reminder, @adzman808! It's hard to remember older threads since we have thousands of them. ;)

    Full disclosure

I book marked that one, in a kinda "man I hope I never have to do this, but this would be helpful if I did" sort of way

So there's probably more on here, I just know of that one!

The YT vid you shared re the 27 makes me think that it would be possible and quite easy to swap the metal XF mount to the XC50-230...

I don't use my 27 very much.... (But like it whenever I do) but I use my 50-230 even less!

The 27 is probably a better candidate for a pastic mount though... Being smaller and lighter, and less likely to get banged into things... (Although imHo plastic and lens mount are not words I like in the same sentence :D)
