    Fujifilm just released the new Fujifilm X-T2 firmware ver. 4.01 on May 17, 2018

    <Notice>
    We have discovered malfunctions in the firmware ver.4.00 released on May 8 2018. Therefore, we withdrew the firmware ver.4.00.

    <Details of the Problem>

    1. When RAW files, which were taken by X-T2 (before firmware ver.4.00), are converted in camera (ver.4.00) or by "FUJIFILM X RAW STUDIO", they are not converted properly.
    2. When pressing the shutter button halfway under certain conditions, the live view can flicker.
    3. In rare cases, a hang-up can occur.

    We will inform you later of the detail of fixed firmware for the malfunctions.
    As a temporary solution for customers who have upgraded the firmware to ver.4.00, we have prepared a new firmware version of 4.01 whose functions are same as the ver.3.00.
    Please update your camera to ver.4.01 to avoid the malfunctions.
    *Ver.4.01 doesn't include the additional functions of ver.4.00.

    V4.01 appears to basically be a downgrade back to v3 so unless you have actually experienced problems I wouldn't bother.

    Yeah, it's a downgrade. I'm not going to bother for now unless I run into any specific issues.

    This is not the first time Fuji has encountered some issues with an upgrade. It's just another reason to wait a while and not to jump on the upgrade band wagon when it is first offered.

    Hay folks, give them a break. They found the issue and are correcting it.

    I have no problem. So I leave it as is. I mainly use XT2 for video and internal Flog is very high quality and survive color grading.

    When I grow up, maybe the discipline and resistance to novelty necessary to act on this good advice will be within my grasp. Maybe. (Seventy in December.)

    @Richard_Reich
    You don't need to grow up to develop such a resistance, you just need a diversion. This is my diversion and one of our beasts of burden.:)

    The only effect the upgrade had on my T2 was to delete my bracketing settings. Bit of a shock when I came to use it. All tied in with the Focus stacking malarkey. I reset my preferences and it worked fine. Everything else seems unaffected so I'm going to do nothing.

    I upgraded the morning of the announcement. So far, the only issue I can corroborate is flickering while the shutter is half depressed, in one or two instances. I’m keeping the upgrade at this point.

    Since I use BBF I have no need to push the shutter button half way.
    I have not seen a flicker problem yet.

    The only criticism I can give is that they made the firmware in a way that does not allow you to roll back on your own. thus they need to release a new revision number to put the old firmware back on the device.
