    Can you get reliable focus on eyes with the 50mm f1.4? If yes, I grant that you have (much) better skills and maybe better eyesight than I :)

    Good question! I don't know because I don't use it to take portraits. In fact, I just don't take pictures of people very often with any camera or lens. Not that it's germane to your question but I rather like the lens for what I do with it. I might be tempted to get an updated 50, like that just introduced by Tokina. :)
