The front side of the X-T1 actually looks surprisingly clean without the rubber skin, except for the grip, which looks very rough. I don't know what kind of glue or material they used here but it's very hard and not soft and easy removable like on the rest of the surface. I would like to remove it though but acetone has no effect on it. Anyone knows how to get rid of it?

    Thanks!

We have a product here in the U.K. called "Sticky Stuff Remover". Perhaps you have something similar in Belgium that you could try! Also, WD40 can be very effective.

Hello, Charzes. That's not going to do it, I'm afraid. They used two different kinds of glue:

    - One that is soft and sticky (easy removable)
    - One that is as hard as hard plastic. You can get tiny bits off with a cutter while using quite some force

Most of the skin is glued with the soft easy removable glue but on the grip it's a whole other matter.

It would be interesting to see a picture with the "leather" trim off... I think for most users that would be a nightmare

I think I'm to blame for the hard indestructible glue on the grip. I once used superglue because the skin was loosening. I didn't remember on what part of the camera I used it. Tip: Never use superglue!

Yesterday I found this picture on the internet. It's how I knew that there is actually no superglue on the grip.

I still don't understand why they cannot use the leatherette covering of the X-E series on the X-T cameras. Actually the naked X-T1 doesn't look too bad either.

    It looks a bit army-ish.

Alex, if you haven't discovered this already, acetone (nail polish remover!) is the solvent for superglue.

That's what they say but I've used Loctite Super Glue-3 and Acetone can't begin to make it soft.

Not so with my copy thanks to the rough superglue. So it's good for something after all. ;)

Did anyone hear if the X-T2 has a similar issue?

Nearly bought a X-E2 once with a Green Lizard skin type covering, in the end I decided it looked too tacky
Seem to recall it couldn't be removed/replaced by the consumer, that really made my mind up

Fuji were at the recovering game themselves! At great expense of course .... £125GBP rings a bell.

Better with Please login or register to view links(url) - and note their D.I.Y video. Easy. A nice subtle black lizard emboss every time for me - see my pic of the recovered XM-1 in the 'Giving the x-m1 a try' post in that forum
