Nice city
I live near a place, away from tourists, where people don't mind if I take their photos. In that respect it is good.
It's not necessarily a place I want to bring up kids though. Where I live in Saigon has a lovely garden for the kids to play. Where I live in London I am at the southern tip of Epping Forest. There is so much free space for them to run about and explore it is wonderful.
I can't wait to get to get back to London. Hopefully only 4 months left.

I really enjoy the Saigon series you've been posting.... Please continue...
It's funny.... With me, I like seeing the old names.... Nostalgic? Romantic? I don't know?
Saigon vs Ho Chi Minh City
Bombay vs Mumbai
Burma vs Myanmar

Thank you Kirsty and Metalman884. Some days I go out and get lucky. Most days I don't. I live near two huge social housing complexes which is where I always go. Each day I take photos I get them printed up and give them to the people the next day, if I think I can find them, which I usually can. The people on the river bank I have no chance of finding again, but the kids will be easy and the people in the shop I have already given them photos before. I gave a man a photo today to give to his friend. When I rode past on the scooter 5 minutes later he was still looking at the photo and smiling. Even if sometimes people are a bit annoyed the first time, when i go back with the photos it always puts a smile on their face.
Tourists call it HCMC and on official documents that is how it is referred to, but a lot of Vietnamese call it Saigon. The river is called Saigon and even the beer is called Saigon. The residents are called Saigonese. Only once has a Vietnamese person corrected me. Even my wife, who is from the North, slips up and calls it Saigon regularly:) When I go back I will miss being able to go out and and just take candids without any thought. But, I will be back to taking photos at the outdoor, not so legal, party scene in the forests in London;) My son went to his first one when he was only 2! But no more warehouse parties:( I can't take a 4 year old to a warehouse party.
